I am an experienced counsellor and psychotherapist working in Brighton and Hove.
I can offer you a safe, warm, challenging but realistic space to work towards understanding what might be happening for you, talk about how it feels, resolve conflicts and move towards potential change.
Therapy can help with things like:
-
Feeling heard and supported
-
Feeling less anxious, overwhelmed and panicked
-
Exploring your identity and who you are
-
Feeling worthless
-
Better understanding what might be happening in your relationships
-
Understanding how your past experiences may still be affecting your present
-
Going through big change
-
Feeling stuck
-
Finding your voice
-
Feeling low
-
Losing a loved one
I also work as a qualified clinical supervisor for trainee and qualified therapists. As a clinical supervisor, I can offer you the space to consider what might be happening between you and your clients, explore ideas and offer a fresh perspective.
To get in touch you can email me or fill out the contact form at the bottom of this page.
What is therapy?
One way to describe therapy is that it’s using my head to help explore what might be going on in yours. It’s somewhere that you won’t be judged or criticised. Somewhere you can feel safe to explore and unpick what might be going on for you.
Going to therapy can be a chance to notice those things that we tend to do, wonder why we might do them and then experiment with doing something different.
Therapy can help you gain an alternative perspective while also feeling supported, validated and understood.
It's a chance to find understanding and acceptance and to feel more whole free from feelings like guilt and shame.
About me
I am an experienced counsellor and psychotherapist and an accredited member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). I have a Masters from Birkbeck, University of London, in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and Counselling.
I also work as a qualified psychodynamic clinical supervisor and have a Diploma in Supervision from The Link Centre.
I work with honesty and warmth and my practice is hopeful but realistic. I think that what has happened in the past is important and affects who we are and the way we live our lives right now. But the past is not all we’ll talk about. We can think about what has gone on and link it to what's happening now, we can spot patterns and work out why certain things might feel the way they do.
I am very interested in identity - whether that's linked to sexuality, colour, race or origins - whatever you bring. Where we feel we belong and how we see ourselves is one of my specialisms.
I have worked in private practice and with young adults and older post-graduates and post-doctorates in university counselling settings at the University of Arts London (UAL), University of Surrey and currently at the University of Sussex. I’ve also worked with young people aged 16-25 years at Open Door, a charity in North London.
As a member of the BACP I adhere to their code of conduct and take part in regular training to keep me up to date.
FAQs
How much does it cost?
My fees are £60 per session. Each session lasts 50 minutes.
What happens after I email you?
We will arrange a time to meet or speak over the phone for an initial free 30 session where we can talk about what’s going on for you and what you might like to get from therapy. In this meeting I’ll ask you questions so that I can get a clearer picture and we can decide if we’d like to keep working together. You do not have to continue coming to see me after this first free session and you’re under no obligation. It’s important to find a therapist who you feel comfortable with and who you can open up to.
How long will the therapy last?
We can decide at the beginning how many sessions you might like or we can leave it more open ended and not agree an end date, but discuss endings as our work progresses. Shorter-term therapy usually lasts between 8 and 12 sessions. This can be helpful if you have a specific issue to focus on and think about.
How often will we meet?
We will usually meet at the same time each week, once a week.
Where will me meet?
I work out of the Hove Therapy Rooms at 69 Church Road, Hove, BN3 2BB with the street entrance on Wilbury Road (next to Baked Cafe and opposite Small Batch Coffee on Wilbury Road).
I also provide zoom or telephone counselling.

Supervision
What's your approach?
My approach is psychodynamic but I also work with supervisees who practice via different modalities. We can contract together on the frequency of the sessions and their format. I strive to be supportive, containing, maybe a bit educative (if there's resources or books I think might be useful). I concentrate on counter-transference and transference, what might be happening unconsciously and believe thinking about difference is important. I aim to let you lead and not be too directive.
